Alpe d'Huez is mainly known thanks to the climbing in the Tour de France and the Winter Olympics of 1968.
Alpe d'Huez is to one of the larger winter sport areas of France. The 220 km of slopes offer many possibilities for experienced skiers as well as beginners. The highest point, Pic Blanc, is situated at 3330 metres and offers several long steep black slopes, while there are beautiful plane blue and red slopes at the glaciers. There is a snowpark with halfpipe for snowboarders at the Premier Tronçon slope. Freeriders can enjoy lots of off-piste tracks.
Pedestrians will not be bored, in fact, there are approx. 30 km of footpaths. For the cross country skier there are approx. 50 km loipe, these lie particularly on plateaus without trees on approx. 2000 metres altitude. A large advantage of this is the snow certainty.
