Tignes exist from four villages. Les Brévières lies below the dam close to a lake at 1550 metres. Les Boisses lies on 1850 metres. The other modern villages are Le Lac and Val Claret which lies on 2100 metres.
With Val d'Isère, Tignes has developed up to one of the best ski areas in the world. The area under the Aiguille Percée, lies entirely on south slopes and connects on the blue and red pistes to the villages Les Boisses and Les Brévières. Also here is a long black piste on the back of the Percée to Les Brévières.
In Le Lac there is a funpark and a halfpipe of 70 metres for snowboarders. Unfortunately the loipes are very certified, but lie all on a frozen lake.
Be wary though; walks in the fresh air will feel like hiking, thanks to the altitude of Tignes.
